This week (June 5 – 14) we’ll be hosting a great tour of the lower mainland to some special visitors. Vanlanka Planning consulting with the assistance of Sustainable Cities International is organizing a sustainable agriculture conference and agri- tourism tour in the lower mainland BC for a Sri Lankan delegation which consists of political leaders and high ranking officials of Sabaragamuwa, Uwa and North central provinces.
The delegates will visit UBC Farm, City Farmer, an eco-dairy, artisanal cheese makers, and eco-tourism camping sites. They will speak with Richmond City Councillor and Metro Vancouver Director Harold Steves and Metro Vancouver staff Ann Rowan about Metro Vancouver’s food security strategy, and with Wendy Holm, award-winning agricultural economist and Tamara Leigh, communications consultant on local food systems about British Columbia’s agricultural food systems. They will also hear from Capilano University’s Tourism Department about sustainable tourism strategies.
We’ll post photos and updates next week!
